Fiji

With its tropical waters, breathtaking beaches, crashing waves, and lush rain forests, Fiji is a vacationer's paradise. The Fiji Islands are a wonderful place to enjoy some of the best water sports found in the world, along with some of the best historical and tropical vacation activities anywhere.

When you come to Fiji, be prepared to get wet! Since Fiji has crystal clear waters that meet the beautiful, soft sand beaches ringed by palm trees and other lush vegetation, it's easy to see why visitors and vacationers feel like true castaways here. You can swim in the warm ocean waters day and night, no matter what time of year. Or you can take up diving or snorkeling to enjoy some of the underwater sights Fiji has to offer. The Fiji Islands have the world's third largest barrier reef and you simply cannot miss diving or snorkeling on the reef to enjoy some of the most beautiful marine life anywhere in the world. There are plenty of shops that offer lessons for beginners, or brush-up lessons for those who might be a little rusty. Of course, you can also find great surfing here on Fiji as well, or you can just lay back on the beach and soak up some sun. But, in the water isn't the only place to have fun while enjoying the warm waters that surround Fiji. You can book a guided tour of the islands and the surrounding ocean, a deep sea fishing expedition, or you can rent a boat yourself for a little exploration.

The beaches on Fiji are also a great way to enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean while staying dry. Natadola beach is one of the most famous beaches on Fiji and is not to be missed while you are here. Although this beach is swiftly being developed, you can lay back and enjoy the rays while you watch the surfers ride the swells back to shore. The soft sand and beautiful views make this beach a perfect spot to spend the day. Since there has been so much development on this stretch of beach in recent years, you can always find great restaurants and shops to enjoy as well.

Although the warm tropical waters attract many people, there is more to the islands of Fiji than just water. The Sigatoka Sand dunes in the Fiji Islands are the largest sand dunes anywhere in the South Pacific and you can enjoy so much here. These dunes are home to some of the best sand bottom waves and surfing anywhere in the world, and sand surfers come from all over the world to enjoy the Sigatoka Sand Dunes. But, these dunes are also wonderful archaeological and historical sites as well. You can book archaeological tours if sand surfing just isn't for you.

You can also visit the islands of Tavarua, Mamanuca, and Namotu for some great beaches and surfing experiences. There are long stretches of reef along both of these islands in Fiji that create some perfect conditions for surfing, diving, and snorkeling, and are even considered by some to be some of the best waves in the world. There are even surf shuttles that will pick you up from your hotel or resort, take you to the best surfing destinations on the island, and then return you back home again in the evening.

Although surfing is one of the best known activities on the Fiji Islands, there is also so much more to enjoy. From the rich culture and history to the local villages and shopping, you are sure to find wonderful excursions to enjoy while you stay at some of the most beautiful hotels and resorts anywhere in the world. So, come to Fiji for the surfing, but stay for the wonders of Fiji!
